Hi friends!
Whether you randomly stumbled across this blog or you are here to seek something out in particular, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Morgan, and I’m a 22-year-old law student in Houston. In undergrad, I majored in public relations at Texas State University (Go Bobcats!), and I’m now pursuing my Juris Doctor back in Houston.
In my free-time (or lack thereof), I love cuddling with my miniature poodle, blasting music, happy hours, working out on the stair master, going to spin classes or hot yoga, and binge watching Netflix and Hulu. I also am an enthusiastic coffee and smoothie drinker. Before law school, I was an enthusiastic foodie. Then I entered into law school and didn’t have time to be a full-time student AND an employee, so here I am back on a Ramen Noodles diet. 🙂
If you’re wondering why my blog is called The Black Elle Woods, it’s for two, very simple reasons. The first reason is me paying homage to one of my favorite movies, “Legally Blonde,” which is all about a young woman who is underestimated by everyone, including herself, which she enters law school at Harvard. In the end, she ends up kicking butt! The second reason being that I’m African-American, so I think the title of the blog explains itself!
Why did I start this blog?
I started this blog for myself, essentially. I wanted to document my law school journey, but also document my journey as a person. The point of this blog is to offer advice to anyone that stumbles across it that is unsure about the process of getting to law school, law school itself, or just anything in life! I wanted a platform to talk about maneuvering life and talk about topics that I believe are important to most young adults in and out of school.
I feel that aspiring lawyers should have a place to go to see what law school is really like. I also have a passion for writing. Most importantly, I want to be able to share my experiences. There is just so much that I want to talk about and so many topics that I think are valuable for others as they embark on their law school journey, their life journey, or both. If you’re not interested in anything that goes on in law school, feel free to view just the Lifestyle tab, as it will pertain to all things NOT law school. 🙂
I’m not the most exciting person. I intend to be as raw and true to myself on this forum. I’ll talk about any and everything random. This blog is for all of my thoughts and musings on life, but if it helps anyone, then I’ve done my part! Lastly, feel free to contact me via email (see below), via social media (in the top left hand corner in the menu bar), or just leave a comment below if you have any questions or suggestions.
Cheers!
